MANILA, (PIA) — The Malabon City government is aiming to provide insurance coverage to its 10,000 key stakeholders, Mayor Jeannie Sandoval announced Monday.
This, after the city partnered with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to implement the Membership Accident Assistance Benefits (MAAB) Program for employees and other sectors in the city, in an effort to enhance health services for its residents.
The MAAB Program aims to enroll over 10,000 individuals, including casual and contractual employees, job order employees, members of the Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (JODA), Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA), ETRIKE Association members, and active Rescue and Fire Volunteer Groups in Malabon.
Mayor Jeannie officially launched the program by signing a memorandum of agreement alongside PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang, PRC-Malabon Chapter Chairman Ricky Sandoval, City Administrator Dr. Alexander T. Rosete, PRC-Malabon Fund Generation Committee Chairperson Ms. Flerida Marcelo, and PRC-Malabon Officer-in-Charge Ms. Julie Legaspi.
James Paragas, a cityhall worker welcomed the initiative and said it would help them during unfortunate events.
“This is a great help for individuals without any insurance coverage, especially since it will be handled by the Philippine Red Cross,” he said in Filipino.
“It’s good that the administration of Mayor Jeannie is looking after us Malabueños,” he added.
