Malabon mayor named among ‘Asian Heroes 2024’

MANILA (PIA) — Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval has been recognized as one of 37 leaders featured in “Asian Heroes 2024,” a new coffee-table book highlighting influential public servants across Asia.

Sandoval received the recognition during a ceremony at Manila Hotel on Friday, alongside other prominent Filipino leaders including Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo and Senator Mark Villar. The book was published by Seagull Philippines.

This inspires me to serve better,” Sandoval said at the ceremony. “This trophy symbolizes wholehearted service to the people.”

Publisher Dr. Maria Rosa Carrion said the book aims to showcase “everyday heroes” as role models for future leaders. Under Sandoval’s first term, Malabon City launched several social welfare initiatives, including the Malabon Ahon Blue Card program, which has provided healthcare access to over 80,000 residents since 2023.

The city administration has also implemented housing projects benefiting approximately 1,000 families, including the St. Gregory Homes development in partnership with the national government.

Sandoval was previously named among the “Most Influential Women” by the Filipina Women’s Network, a San Francisco-based organization, for her contributions to business and public service. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
