MANILA, (PIA) — A Malabon City official presented the innovative strategies by the administration Mayor Jeannie Sandoval aimed at enhancing public service delivery for Malabueños during an international audience at the Executive Program in International Relations and Good Governance conference held at Karlshochschule International University in Karlsruhe, Germany.
During his speech, Dr. Alexander Rosete emphasized the city’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its citizens through comprehensive initiatives in public service, health, education, community engagement, and sustainable development.
“The City of Malabon demonstrates a solid commitment to improving the lives of its residents by focusing on their needs to create a thriving and resilient community,” he said.
The conference, organized by Syntax Savvy Sprachen, aimed to connect industry leaders and facilitate discussions on leadership and international relations. Among the attendees were Dr. Anthony Teitler, Program Director of Social Sciences at KIU, and Dr. Desmond Wee, a visiting scholar and VP for Academics at Syntax Savvy.
In his presentation, Dr. Rosete outlined several key strategies implemented by the Malabon local government to enhance service delivery. He highlighted the introduction of one-stop shops and online portals that streamline processes, making them more accessible and efficient while minimizing bureaucratic delays. This approach allows residents to manage tax payments and business renewals via mobile devices, reducing the need for in-person visits and curbing corruption.
Dr. Rosete also discussed the Malabon Ahon Blue Card, a flagship initiative by Mayor Jeannie Sandoval that provides financial and medical assistance to vulnerable groups, including senior citizens and persons with disabilities. This program aims to alleviate financial burdens and improve healthcare access for marginalized sectors.
Additionally, he showcased the “Walang Tulugan Serbisyo Caravan,” a community outreach program designed to deliver essential government services directly to underserved areas, ensuring that residents do not have to travel far for assistance.
For disaster preparedness, Dr. Rosete highlighted the city’s Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CBDRRM) programs, which train barangay officials and residents in emergency response through regular drills and training sessions. He assured that the city’s Command and Communication Center and early warning systems are equipped to operate effectively during disasters.
The city administrator also noted the importance of public consultations and barangay assemblies in fostering community involvement in decision-making processes. By collaborating with various organizations and the private sector, the local government aims to enhance social services and infrastructure projects.
Furthermore, the official mentioned the use of social media as a tool for effective communication, allowing residents to engage directly with the local government and provide feedback on services. He reiterated that Malabon continues to launch programs across various sectors, including social welfare, livelihood, and education, to deliver better services to its residents.
Lastly, he acknowledged the role of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in monitoring and supporting local government units to ensure that initiatives focus on the welfare and development of citizens, disaster preparedness, and anti-corruption efforts.
“Through various programs and initiatives, the city government aims to enhance public service delivery, promote community engagement, and foster sustainable development,” Dr. Rosete concluded. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
