Malangas fishing association granted with fishing gear project

MALANGAS, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment field office in Zamboanga Sibugay has awarded a P500,000 livelihood grant to 49 fisherfolk belonging to the Malangas Fishing Association (MFA).

The project’s goal is to strengthen the association’s fishing operations by providing necessary supplies like iceboxes, lead sinkers, floaters, and fishing nets. The department’s dedication to empowering local communities is demonstrated by the grant.

The livelihood project is expected to help the general welfare of the Malangas community.

Andromedus Espina, president of MFA, expressed appreciation on behalf of the association by saying, “Dako jud kayo among pagpasalamat hilabi na sa DOLE sa tanang tabang nga ilang gihatag sa amoa.” He emphasized the all-encompassing assistance from DOLE, starting with social preparation and including helpful advice.

Community leaders, local leaders, and other stakeholders attended the event at PNOC Port, Poblacion, Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay, and expressed their profound gratitude to DOLE-IX ZSFO for its unwavering commitment to implementing programs and services that directly benefit individuals and associations within marginalized sectors.

The DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program or DILP is a shining example of inclusive growth, generating a number of job opportunities and significantly reducing poverty. The DILP helps people and organizations improve their abilities in livelihood initiatives by giving beneficiaries access to grant support.

The initiative is showing how well-targeted assistance can improve communities and open doors to a more promising and sustainable future.
