Malaybalay City hosts KADIWA ng Pangulo to boost farmers, MSMEs’ productivity

MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)–To support local farmers and drive small business growth, Malaybalay City recently hosted the KADIWA ng Pangulo event at Plaza Rizal.

Organized by the City Economic Enterprise Development and Management Office (CEEDMO) in collaboration with the City Agriculture Office, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the two-day event directly connected farmers and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with consumers, showcasing local products and strengthening both the agricultural and business sectors.

KADIWA ng Pangulo, which stands for “Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita,” is a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing the income of farmers and small businesses by eliminating intermediaries. By giving them direct access to the market, the program ensures that producers benefit from fairer prices and increased profit margins.

In this Malaybalay edition, 24 local entrepreneurs and cooperatives showcased fresh vegetables, fruits, processed goods, and ready-to-eat foods. Their participation generated P93,611 sales, with more revenue expected as the program continues.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) also offered services, such as blood pressure checks, further strengthening the event’s community-centered focus.

Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran and KADIWA Focal Person Romeo R. Lapeciros, Jr. led the event, highlighting the importance of supporting local producers.

“KADIWA ng Pangulo is more than an event—it’s a long-term effort to uplift our farmers and small businesses. We call on the public to support these local products and contribute to our community’s economic growth,” the mayor said.

The KADIWA ng Pangulo program will continue running every second Thursday and Friday until December 2024, moving across various locations. This regular rotation aims to provide farmers and MSMEs with ongoing opportunities to engage with consumers, driving the further growth of both the agricultural and business sectors in Malaybalay City.
