QUEZON CITY, (PIA) –The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have met with mall operators to request them to adjust their schedule of sales and operating hours for the months of November and December 2023, all the way up to early January 2024 during the Christmas season to alleviate heavy congestion on Metro Manila roads.
According to the MMDA, operating mall hours will be set from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. starting November 13, 2023 to January 8, 2024.
The MMDA said, the public can expect malls across Metro Manila to be open only within those hours on all days during that period, unless it was otherwise specified that they will be closing early or fully closed on a specific day.
Meanwhile, mall-wide sales will only be limited to weekends, the MMDA said.

“Mall-wide sales shall only be allowed on weekends and deliveries of shopping mall operators shall only be allowed during nighttime, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day,” said MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes in a statement posted to social media on October 20.
“They will also be asked to adjust their operating hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. starting November 13,” Artes added.
On Christmas Day, as well as the other regular holidays December 30 (Rizal Day) and January 1 (New Year’s Day), and the special non-working day of December 31 (the last day of the year) some malls are closed or shorten their operating hours.
However, the operating mall hours vary per mall, with the schedule being announced within the month of December. (mmda/pia-ncr)
