Mambajao fiesta 2023 kicks off, promises fun-filled days ahead

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin (PIA)–The 168th Mambajao Devotional Town Fiesta officially commenced, September 1, ushering in a grand celebration that promises ten days of excitement, cultural enrichment, and entertainment for the people of Camiguin.

The festival began with a spectacular array of activities that brought the community together in a spirit of unity and celebration.

The festival’s opening day featured a wide range of activities that catered to various interests. Sporting enthusiasts had the opportunity to showcase their skills in friendly competitions, while food enthusiasts reveled in the delectable offerings at the food bazaar. The novena and mass provided a spiritual touch to the festivities, emphasizing the significance of faith and community.

One of the highlights of the day was the highly anticipated mob dance competition for high school students, where talented young dancers dazzled the crowd with their synchronized moves and vibrant performances. Tupsan National High School emerged as the winners of the said event, followed by Fatima College of Camiguin, Yumbing National High School, and Mambajao National High School in fourth place.

The evening continued with the LGU Mambajao Night, an event that showcases the talents of the local government units’ personnel as well as the presentation of the Miss Mambajao candidates, followed by a lively party and jam featuring Scanner and Tropang Vibes Band.

Mayor Yñigo Jesus Romualdo expressed his enthusiasm for the town fiesta and the careful planning that went into crafting the event’s lineup. He emphasized that the goal was to ensure that everyone, regardless of age or background, could join in the festivities and experience the excitement of the Mambajao town fiesta.

“Dugay gyud ni nato gihunahuna nga mga activities kay we want everyone to join, everyone to have fun, everyone from all ages in all barangays nga pag-anhi nila diri, mafeel gyud nila ang kabibo sa fiesta and I think kuha gyud nato, nakuha gyud nato, and I’m really thankful and proud sa atong team nga nagtabang, naghunahuna gyud ani nga mga activities,” Romualdo said.

[We thought about these activities for a long time because we want everyone to join, everyone to have fun, everyone from all ages in all barangays that when they come here, they will really feel the excitement of the fiesta, and I think we really got it, got it we really do, and I’m really thankful and proud of our team that helps, really thinks about these activities]

As the Mambajao town fiesta continues, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a wide array of events that celebrate the rich culture, traditions, and sense of community in Camiguin.
