CAMIGUIN (PIA) — The local government of Mambajao is inviting residents and visitors to register for the Camiguin Trail Race 2025, scheduled for July 12–13.
The 24-hour race includes three categories: 70 kilometers, 25 kilometers, and 10 kilometers. It starts at 10 p.m. on July 12 and ends at 8 p.m. the next day.
“Dako japun ni siya nga challenge sa runners, but rest assured, kami sa munisipyo sa Mambajao, uban ang atong stakeholders, among mapakita sa ila unsa’y kapatsada ba gyud nga ruta nga naa sa taas sa Mambajao,” said LGU Mambajao Sports Coordinator Gilbert Grado during the Lambo Dyes radio program.
(This is still a big challenge for the runners, but rest assured, we in the Municipality of Mambajao, together with our stakeholders, will show them just how beautiful the route up in the highlands of Mambajao is.)
Organizers have placed stations along each route for hydration, medical support, and guidance.
“Nitabang sa ato ang komunidad, labi na pag-identify kung asa ta muagi, asa ang tsada nga lugar nga diin atong bisita ma-feel gyud nila nga ang panahon nga niapil sila sa atong padagan,” Grado said.
(The community helped us, especially in identifying where we should pass and which beautiful spots our visitors should see, so they would feel that the time they joined our fun run was worthwhile.)
Grado said the event supports tourism and local sports development.
“Aside sa pag-invite og mga turista, makatabang pud ta sa atong Sports Development Program nga adunay impact sa tong kabatan-onan,” Grado added.
(Aside from inviting tourists, we can also help our Sports Development Program, which has an impact on our youth.)
Carlos Peñaloza, who participated in the past race, described the trail as a slippery challenge but said that overcoming the muddy slopes and enjoying the scenery along the trail made the effort worthwhile. He said he felt accomplished and grateful for the experience.
Finishers will receive medals and shirts, while winners will receive cash prizes and trophies.
Interested participants may contact LGU Mambajao Sports or The Vertical to Sky Sports Management for more information. (HSGA/PIA-10)
