MAO Magsaysay calibrated weighing scales for onion buyers

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Magsaysay conducted a calibration of weighing scales for onion agents and buyers across the municipality.

The activity, led by the Municipal Treasurer’s Office (MTO), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), Municipal Licensing Office (MLO), and Municipal Police Station (MPS), aims to ensure that the weighing scales used for onion trading is accurate and free of tampering. The MTO issues a sticker for calibrated weighing scales as a proof of inspection and accuracy.

Municipal Agriculturist Richard Ochavez said that the calibration of weighing scales not only ensures honest transactions between farmers and buyers but also helps buyers become more trustworthy business partners for farmers.

As of date, 57 weighing scales have been calibrated, to include the 14 units stockyards and buying stations in Magsaysay.

Ochavez reminded onion buyers and agents, who have not had their weighing scales calibrated, to go to their office for the process. (DSG/PIA Occidental Mindoro)
