QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday, December 2, visited the Manila Boys’ Town Complex in Marikina City, where he celebrated the Christmas season with residents, bringing gifts and goodwill.
During his visit, held at the Valeriano E. Fugoso Memorial Elementary School Gym, President Marcos expressed his gratitude to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and acknowledged the local government’s role in supporting the complex. “Maraming salamat, Secretary Rex Gatchalian ng DSWD,” he said, setting a festive tone for the occasion.
The President remarked on the lively atmosphere, playfully noting the absence of senior residents, saying, “Puro bata. Masyado kayong bata para maging senior.” (You are just children. You are too young to be a senior citizens.)

He emphasized the importance of the Christmas spirit, saying, “Ramdam na ramdam na talaga ang Christmas spirit lalo na ‘pag ganito ating mga ninuno at pati na kasama dito sa ating mga bata.” (We can really feel the Christmas spirit especially when our ancestors are like this and also with our children.)
Marcos shared that the Christmas season had officially begun, referencing the lighting of a large Christmas tree at Malacañang. “Paskong-Pasko na,” he said, encouraging attendees to embrace the festive mood.
As part of the celebration, the President distributed gifts, food packs, and health kits to the residents. He also expressed his delight in discovering local talents, mentioning a surprise K-pop performance by the children. “Dapat malaman ng tao, mayroon palang K-pop dito sa Boys’ Town. May future itong mga batang ito,” he said. (People should know, there is K-pop here in Boys’ Town. These children have a future.)
In his message, President Marcos reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities. “Lagi po kayong nasa isip namin,” he assured the residents, emphasizing that every Filipino should feel the Christmas spirit, especially those affected by recent disasters. He reflected on the challenges faced over the past year, including natural disasters, but encouraged resilience. “Kahit na natisod tayo ng kaunti, tatayo ulit at maglalakad ulit,” he said. (Even if we stumble a little, we will get up and walk again.)
Concluding his remarks, he encouraged everyone to cherish the holiday season as a time for family and community. “Merry Christmas po sa inyong lahat,” he said, adding that the joy of the children’s smiles was a gift to him and his team.
