MANILA, (PIA) — Since December last year, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has assured the public that services provided by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) would remain intact despite the agency’s zero subsidy allocation for the 2025 National Budget.
“At ito ang guarantee ko, napakasimple lang ng guarantee ko: kahit na subsidy, kahit walang subsidy, kahit anong contribution, all of these issues — hindi mababawasan ang serbisyo ng PhilHealth,” Marcos said during an event at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City, in a social media post by the Philippine Information Agency-National Capital Region on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

The Chief Executive emphasized that not only would services remain unaffected, but they would also expand.
“In fact, baligtad, padadamihin pa namin ang serbisyong ibibigay ng PhilHealth,” he added, promising increased payments for insurance claims and enhanced services.
Marcos reassured various demographics, saying, “Para sa senior, para sa mga mahirap, para sa middle class, walang mababawasan kahit isang kusing.”
He affirmed that the administration’s goal for 2025 is to broaden PhilHealth’s offerings and improve the efficiency of its operations.
“Walang mawawala sa serbisyo ng PhilHealth. Mas pinapaganda pa nga namin ang pagpatakbo ng PhilHealth para mas marami pang maibigay sa taumbayan,” he concluded, urging citizens not to worry about potential reductions in healthcare services.
The President’s comments reflect a commitment to maintaining essential health services for all Filipinos, ensuring that the country’s healthcare system remains resilient in challenging financial times. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
