DAVAO CITY (PIA) – – President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. lauded the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) government for holding the 1st Local Legislative General Assembly, calling it “historic and landmark.”
“It is a historic and landmark day because it is a measure of the progress that we have made over so many decades as we have strived for peace,” President Marcos declared.
Around 350 Bangsomoro legislators participated in the assembly held in Acacia Hotel, Davao City on November 14.

Marcos emphasized that the assembly and the participation of the lawmakers signified the existence of the spirit of cooperation and unity amongst BARMM leaders.
“The insights and the initiatives that will transpire from this discussion are crucial to our goal of achieving peace and progress in our nation and in BARMM governments,” the President said.
President Marcos also encouraged the local solons to explore various collaborations while assessing the challenges in the implementation of the Organic Act for the BARMM to improve the socio-economic condition of the Bangsamoro people.
The BARMM Organic Law, or Republic Act 11054, was approved on July 26, 2018.
The assembly was also highlighted with trainings and seminars to align the local programs with that of the national and Bangsamoro governments and to jumpstart a series of future capability programs for the legislative bodies in BARMM. (MLU/PIA Davao)
