Marikina mayor signs ordinances providing relief for sari-sari stores, carinderia owners

MARIKINA CITY, (PIA) — To continue providing relief to the people of Marikina City especially this Christmas season, Mayor Marcy Teodoro signed ordinances to help micro business owners in the city.

Mayor Teodoro signed Ordinance 73, series of 2024, or the “Ordinance Providing for Full Business Permit and Business Tax Exemption for Sari-Sari Stores and Carinderia in Marikina City for the Tax Year 2025” and “Ordinance 79, series of 2024, or the “Ordinance Granting Amnesty on Interests of Delinquent Real Property Taxpayers in the City of Marikina until December 31, 2025.”

According to Mayor Marcy, issuing such ordinances helps reduce the concerns of the people of Marikina.

The business tax exemption is annually granted by the City Government of Marikina to qualified sari-sari stores and carinderias to compensate and provide relief to small investors in Marikina since 2017.

Eligible sari-sari stores and carinderias include:

– have a start-up capital (initial investment) of no more than ₱10,000

– have annual sales not exceeding Ph₱250,000

– does not sell cigarettes or/and alcohol

Meanwhile, taxpayers of real property (RPT) are provided with ample time and opportunity to settle their deficiencies until December 31, 2025, enabling them to avoid interest charges if the tax is paid within this timeframe. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
