QUEZON CITY (PIA) — Soldiers from the Marine Batallion Landing Team (MBLT)-10 have conducted assistance operations in the provinces of Cagayan and Batanes amid concerted efforts of the government and various sectors to mitigate the impact of Typhoon Marce (Yinxing).
The units’ personnel and assets of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) have been mobilized to provide critical assistance to typhoon-hit communities.
It said that amid the continuous rains in different parts of the provinces of Cagayan and Batanes, personnel of MBLT-10 immediately organized Disaster Response and Rescue Teams (DRRTs) to be deployed across its area of operation for collaboration with municipal disaster risk reduction and management offices (MDRRMOs), local government units (LGUs), and law enforcement agencies for possible pre-emptive evacuation and humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR).
“The steadfast personnel of Marine Battalion Landing Team-10 courageously pressed forward through Typhoon ‘Marce,’ evacuating residents across the Province of Cagayan,” it said in a post on social media.
“In the aftermath of multiple storms, the Marines continue to deliver vital support alongside local government units, prioritizing the safe evacuation of affected families, especially children, from areas hardest hit by Typhoon Marce,” it added.
MBLT-10 said the marines in Batanes conducted an early Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) conference and prepositioned relief packs in anticipation of the typhoon.
The unit’s DRRTs were put on standby for possible deployment, working alongside MDRRMOs to flood-prone and vulnerable areas across Batanes, it noted.
“Undeterred by relentless winds and flooding, the Marines are on the ground, providing immediate relief and reinforcing recovery efforts, embodying the spirit of resilience and duty,” the MBLT-10 underscored. (PIA DMD)
