MATAN-AO, Davao del Sur (PIA)—The town of Matanao in Davao del Sur has announced the holding of its 4th Lungib Festival
Clover Jane Sabornido, tourism and information officer of Matanao said the six- day festivities will revolve around the rich culture, arts, tradition, food talents and the stunning natural wonder of Matanao, including the beautiful waterfalls, mountain ranges and the caves.
As part of the preparations the municipal government has met with several festival stakeholders.
“Barangay Asbang and Dongan Pekong sent its representatives, along with those from the Municipal Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection, the MDRRMO, Municipal Planning Office, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Municipal Agriculture Office, the Traffic and the General Services Office,“ Sabornido said.
The tourism officer said the purpose of the meeting was to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the festival.
She said the response of the community is positive and collaborative
They will also invite more vloggers to capture the events of the Lungib Festival.
“Filming and sharing experiences will be part of the celebration,” she said.
Sabornido said the Su’bon Cave in Sitio Talambato in Brgy. Asbang will be featured in the vlogging activities.
She said thrill-seekers and nature lovers will come together for an underground journey that will traverse the 220-meter Su’bon Cave, the Fyingi Sol, the Labas Bantong Sol, the 192 meter-Dats Cave and the 272.43 meter Asbang Faksol.
Sabornido said that date of the trek will be on April 26, 2025, with a registration at P1,000.
“The registration of P1,000.00 will include environmental fee, registration fee, guide fee, certificate, Lungib fest shirt, equipment rental, one lunch and one snack,” she said. (JSGD)
