MANILA, (PIA) — Mayor Jeannie Sandoval assured residents of Malabon City and the public that their safety is a top priority as she closely monitors the investigation into an alleged bomb threat at the City of Malabon University (CMU) that disrupted classes on Monday.
“Prayoridad po natin ang kaligtasan at kapakanan ng mga mag-aaral,” she said.
Mayor Jeannie condemned the spreading of such threats that instill fear among students and pledged to ensure that those responsible will be held accountable.
The CMU administration suspended afternoon classes after receiving reports of the bomb threat around 11 a.m.
CMU President Dr. Glen De Leon explained that the decision was made following a thorough risk assessment in consultation with local law enforcement agencies.
“The suspension of classes allows for a controlled and orderly evacuation of the campus, facilitating a comprehensive search and investigation,” he said.
Dr. De Leon noted that school officials are collaborating with law enforcement to identify those responsible for the threat. The investigation includes a thorough search of the campus and analysis of digital evidence, while security personnel are enhancing safety measures across the university.
Mayor Jeannie urged the CMU community to remain calm and vigilant during the investigation.
“Nauunawaan ko ang kaba at takot na maaaring idulot ng ganitong insidente,” she said.
Sandoval encouraged anyone who observes suspicious activity to report it immediately and promised to provide updates through official university channels.
“Maraming salamat sa inyong pang-unawa at tiwala,” she added. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
