MANILA, (PIA) — Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval on Tuesday took a hands-on role as she graced the Malabon National High School (MNHS) and Malabon Elementary School (MES) to personally oversee the start of the new academic year.

Accompanied by Dr. Cecille Carandang, the Superintendent of the Department of Education (DepEd) Division, Mayor Sandoval visited both MNHS and MES to assess the situation and ensure the safety of students as they entered the school premises.

Mayor Sandoval announced the augmentation of personnel from the Public Safety and Traffic Management Office (PSTMO) in the vicinity everyday to facilitate smooth traffic flow during the students’ return to the schools.

The Malabon Public Information Office, for its part, said there is a total enrollment of 62,226 students across 42 public schools within the city. Additionally, approximately 30,500 students have enrolled in 40 private educational institutions.

The student count at MES stands at 3,800, with an additional 80 students registered in the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

Meanwhile, MNHS boasts an enrollment of 3,666 students, marking it as the educational institution with the highest number of high school students in the city.

During her visit, Mayor Sandoval also emphasized the local government’s commitment to closely monitor and maintain a zero percent dropout rate among students.

Expressing solidarity, she extended her support to Dr. Rosela Q. Abude, the head of MES, along with the dedicated teaching staff.

To all teachers, we stand ready to assist you in our collective endeavor to nurture these young minds,” the mayor said. (PIA-NCR)
