QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora reflected on the achievements of his administration during his two terms in office.
“In just five years, San Juan City has been elevated as a model city in the Philippines for good governance. We have delivered on our promises to the people of San Juan, greatly improving the city’s infrastructure, public services, and overall quality of life,” Mayor Zamora said.
Under his leadership, the city has earned numerous accolades, including the Best Pandemic Response award from the Galing Pook Awards. This recognition highlights the local government’s innovative programs designed to tackle various challenges in the community. The programs and practices showcased by the Galing Pook Awards are intended to serve as models of good governance for other communities to adopt.
Also, the city received recognition, from the Department of Health, for its COVID-19 vaccination campaign during the height of the pandemic.
Moreover, the city has achieved the Seal of Good Local Governance for 2023, a recognition for the LGU’s journey towards good local governance. The seal is both a symbol and responsibility to relentlessly uphold the standards of transparency, accountability and service delivery.
In terms of education, all public school students in San Juan receive free rubber shoes, uniforms, gadgets, and fiber optic internet connections at home.
Public schools are likewise equipped with Wi-Fi and smart TVs, ensuring quality education for all students.
Looking ahead to a potential third term, Zamora outlined key projects that he aims to complete, including the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program (4PH), which plans to construct thousands of public housing units in high-rise buildings.
Other initiatives include the Makabagong San Juan Multi-Level Sports Complex, the San Juan City Government Center, and a new crematorium and columbarium.
The mayor also plans to enhance public safety with a comprehensive command center featuring CCTV coverage across key roadways.
“By 2028, I aim to complete all of these projects and leave behind a lasting legacy,” Zamora said. He emphasized that the next three years are critical for maintaining San Juan’s trajectory as a modern, progressive, and inclusive city.
Concluding his reflection, Mayor Zamora expressed his commitment to fulfilling every promise made since 2019.
“By the end of my final term in 2028, I want San Juan to continue to stand as a model city—one that future leaders and communities can look up to as an inspiration,” he said.
With a clear vision, Mayor Zamora is poised to build a legacy of good governance and public service for generations of San Juan residents. (JVD/PIA-NCR)
