MCIAA sets up ‘Sinulog Help Desks’ at Cebu int’l airport

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – The Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) has set up “Oplan Ligtas Byahe Sinulog” help desks at Terminals 1 and 2 of the Mactan Cebu International Airport. 

MCIAA Public Affairs Office chief Mary Ann Dimabayao said that the help desks were set up in partnership with various government agencies, local government units, and the private sector. 

It aims to assist the airport passengers on inquiries regarding their flight schedules and other concerns related to their travel. 

MCIAA has also installed a Basic First Aid Station in case of emergencies inside the airport. 

Dimabayao added that they are already preparing for the “Balik-Cebu Welcome” at the airport in time for the arrival of five chartered flights on Jan. 16.

According to Department of Tourism (DOT) 7 regional director Judy Gabato, the five chartered flights arriving in Cebu will be carrying a total of 1,000 passengers. 

“There are 5 chartered flights arriving on January 16 with a total of 1,000 individuals from the various Asian countries to experience this warm welcome dinner show and musical performances showcasing Cebu’s talents,” said Gabato. 

Meanwhile, DOT-7 and MCIAA recently led the launching of the ‘Balik Cebu’ program spearheaded by the Ayala Center Cebu. 

The Balik Cebu program was officially launched on Jan. 8 at the first level of Ayala Center Cebu.

“This program is an annual activity giving a grand welcome to all the balikbayans and tourists in time for the Sinulog Festival in Cebu,” Gabato added. 

Currently, resorts have reported an occupancy rate of 70 percent and 65 percent for the hotels due to the Sinulog festivities. 

“We are not looking after foreign guests only, but we also have our local devotees who would love to come to participate in all the activities of the Sinulog,” Gabato said. (HFG/PIA7)
