MCIA’s ‘Best Airport in Asia Pacific’ award brings pride to Cebuanos

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – The recent award bagged by the Mactan-Cebu International Airport as the Best Airport in Asia Pacific is a pride not only for the local aviation industry but also for Cebuanos.

According to MCIAA general manager Julius G. Neri Jr., the award is proof that the Filipino brand of service is among the best in the world.

“Mactan-Cebu International Airport being awarded as the best airport in the Asia-Pacific in the 5 to 15 million passenger category means a lot not only to the airport stakeholders but also to the Cebuano community and the Filipino nation as a whole. It shows us that we can be world class. That the Filipino brand of service is among the best in the world,” said Neri.

MCIAA won Best Airport in Asia Pacific during the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) award.

ASQ is a program of the Airport Council International (ACI) designed to measure, upgrade, monitor, and improve the passenger experience in airports.

ACI is the world trade association for airports that advocates for airports’ interests during crucial stages of policy formation.

The award recognizes airports with the top 20 percent overall satisfaction scored by size and region at departure.

“There are different parameters that are being measured that includes how cold or warm the airport is, how efficient the service is, how fast you can get a cab, how fast you’re able to check in, are there enough chairs, are there enough food outlets, is there enough variety of food to cater to the different palates, different religions, you know, different groups,” explained Neri.

Since 2015, MCIAA has won 26 awards, including Asia’s Best Airport under the 5M passengers category in 2023.
