Military mobile kitchen feeds thousands for Ramadan

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Armed Forces of the Philippines Joint Task Force National Capital Region rolled out its mobile kitchen last weekend to provide iftar meals for Muslim communities during Ramadan.

Working with the Integrative Center for Alternative Development and the Australian Relief Organization, JTF-NCR distributed 2,000 hot meal packs in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City, helping Muslim residents break their daily fast.

The Quezon City Bangsamoro Affairs Service supported the initiative by preparing meals and organizing food packs for local mosques.

During the opening program, community leaders and donors shared messages of support. Selim Sirinuglo of the ICAD Foundation expressed gratitude to soldiers, police and community members for making the event possible.

Lt. Col. Arniel Tormis of JTF-NCR said the initiative will continue for five weekends across the capital region until March 23.

Upcoming distributions are scheduled for March 15-16 at the Golden Mosque in Quiapo, Manila, and March 23 at Sta. Monica, Quezon City.

Iftar is the evening meal Muslims eat after sunset to break their daily fast during Ramadan.

The program aims to strengthen connections between government agencies and diverse communities while honoring Muslim traditions, according to JTF-NCR. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
