MIMAROPA cops ready for the Yuletide Season; to implement ‘Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan’

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA is ready to ensure the security and safety of the public across the region this coming Christmas season.

Police Lieutenant Kytel Barcelona said the implementation of Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan 2024 is their strategy to ensure smooth police operations during the holiday season.

“So mayroon po tayong operational plan na nakahanda yung ‘Ligtas Paskuhan 2024’ na i-implement po sa buong region po natin and all concerned units and offices are well-informed naman po sa magiging tasking po nila para po sa upcoming yuletide season po,” Barcelona said.

Due to the expected increase in the number of people in terminals, churches, and tourist spots, they have also prepared strategies to address congestion and possible incidents in crowded areas.

“Sa darating na paskuhan, ini-expect na dadating yung pamilya natin na galing ibang lugar. Ini-expect natin yung congestion sa iba’t ibang areas tulad dyan sa terminal, simbahan, ineexpect po natin na maraming magpupunta sa mga pasyalan. Di natin maiiwasan na may mga bagay na mangyayari…doon yung mga areas na pagpo-focusan po natin, kung saan iha-heighten yung police visibiliy dito para maiwasan yung mga ganoong pagkakataon,” she added.

[For the upcoming Christmas season, we expect families to come from other places, and we anticipate congestion in different areas such as terminals and churches. We also expect many people to visit tourist spots, and while we cannot avoid incidents from happening, we will focus on areas where we will heighten police visibility to prevent such occurrences.]

As part of the plan, deployment strategies have been prepared for identified areas expected to see an increase in police presence.

In Oriental Mindoro, 274 police officers will be deployed, 148 in Occidental Mindoro, 108 in Marinduque, 200 in Romblon, and 90 in Puerto Princesa City.

As a reminder, Barcelona advised the public to be cautious during the Christmas celebrations, stressing that to fully enjoy the holidays, everybody must be vigilant, avoid wearing expensive jewelry, and refrain from carrying large sums of money.

“Maging aware tayo lagi sa paligid natin. Iwasan natin yung pagsusuot ng mahahaling mga accesories, pagdala ng malaking amount ng pera para totally ma-enjoy natin itong upcoming na Yuletide season,” she said.
