CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and Philippine Federation of Credit Cooperative (PFCCO) signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the rehabilitation and restoration of denuded forest and agricultural areas as well as the protection and preservation of remaining forest cover, watersheds, headwaters, and river basins.
The Green Mindanao Project, which is anchored on MinDA’s banner program, is aligned with MinDA’s flagship program–the MinDA Nurturing Our Waters (MinDANOW) Program. The project’s primary goals are to advance high-value farming by emphasizing the cultivation of specific crops such as Lapnisan (Agarwood), promoting the growth of fruit trees in deforested highland regions, and bamboo farming along riverbanks and headwater sources.
Under the terms of the agreement, MinDA Area Management Offices (AMOs) will facilitate and coordinate with relevant stakeholders and River Basin Management Councils across Mindanao to identify target areas, and the PFCCO will provide financial support through its Cooperative Development Fund.
The agreement also provides for rehabilitating and restoring denuded forest and agricultural areas, as well as protecting and preserving the remaining forest cover, watersheds, headwaters, and river basins.
MinDA’s four AMOs and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region-10 witnessed the MOA signing. (MinDA)
