CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Philippine National Police-Police Regional Office (PNP-PRO)-10 received high ratings based on the satisfaction rating in trust, respect, safety and security, and public satisfaction on police based on the Client Satisfaction Survey result presented by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) on December 23 at Camp Alagar, here.

The MinDA Chief of Public Relations, Dr. Adrian M. Tamayo, said the regional trust rating improved between quarters, from 93 percent in quarter one to 94 percent in quarter four.

Trust refers to the competency and character that the community puts in police services.

Bukidnon recorded the highest trust rating at 96 percent, followed by Cagayan de Oro City at 95 percent and other provinces, all maintaining scores above 93 percent.

Mindanao Development Authority Chief of Public Relations Dr. Adrian M. Tamayo says, "The media plays a very significant role in telling the story that Mindanao is a safe, secure, and beautiful island, ready for investment and tourism," as he presented the trust, respect, safety and security, and public satisfaction on police based on the Client Satisfaction Survey result to the Philippine National Police-Police Regional Office-10 on December 23 at Camp Alagar, Cagayan de Oro City. In terms of safety ratings, Camiguin and Bukidnon tie at 95 percent. In terms of security, Camiguin also achieved the highest rating of 97 percent, while Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City resulted in the highest satisfaction ratings at 97 percent.

The survey reflects the security landscape in northern Mindanao, as the results indicate that respondents have strong confidence in their safety and territorial security.

Tamayo said, “Safety is something that is felt individually” and is not imposed.

The survey result presented the PNP-PRO-10’s safety rating of 93 percent, Iligan’s quarter four result at 98 percent, Cagayan de Oro at 95 percent, and Camiguin at 97 percent.

Iligan City showed persistent improvement over periods from 89 percent in quarter one to 98 percent in quarter four, while Misamis Occidental showed a decline from 94 percent in quarter one to 88 percent in quarter four. Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, and Bukidnon’s safety ratings are 92 percent, 92 percent, and 90 percent, respectively.

“Mindanao is a safe, secure, and beautiful island, ready for investment and tourism,” said Tamayo.

One of the Mindanao Development Authority’s agendas for the whole of the island in relation to peace governance is to achieve an overall development characterized by peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable development in Mindanao.

Tamayo emphasizes the importance of sharing the positive stories of Mindanao to attract more investors and tourists, saying, “We should be the best people to tell the stories of Mindanao.”

He notes PNP-PRO-10’s community-focused efforts are a key factor contributing to positive perceptions.

“People trust their police, as they are confident of the rights-based approach and feel satisfied with the public safety services of the Philippine National Police-Police Regional Office-10,” said Tamayo.

For his part, PNP-PRO-10 Regional Director PBGen Jaysen C. de Guzman expressed his gratitude to Tamayo and the MinDA for conducting the survey.

“We are humbled and gratified by the positive feedback from the survey, which indicates that the community feels safe and satisfied with the performance of our police force in Region 10. These results inspire us and strengthen our resolve to fulfill our mandate to serve and protect with unwavering dedication,” he said.

De Guzman stressed that the police force never stops improving its services to better serve and protect the Filipino public and urged all police personnel to sustain their gains in excellence, efficiency, and integrity in performing their duties.

He reassures the public of PNP PRO10’s commitment to ensuring that Northern Mindanao remains as a safe and secure place for all.

He said that the results of the Client Satisfaction Survey provide the PNP with a clearer understanding of how the public perceives their work here in the region.

While the survey highlights the police force earned the community’s trust and gained their respect, De Guzman stressed that there are opportunities for improvement to better meet the public’s expectations.

“Let us continue working together to make this region a safer and more secure place to live in,” said De Guzman.

MinDA’s Tamayo notes that the demonstrations of friendly, approachable, communitarian police officers generate positive effects on the rights-based policing and on the people’s perception of safety. (SAYU/PIA-10)
