VILLANUEVA, Misamis Oriental (PIA)–Going above and beyond their duty to protect and serve, the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office (MOPPO) and civilian volunteers recently organized a bloodletting drive dubbed “Dugo Ko, Kinabuhi Mo” at their provincial headquarters in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
The campaign, marking its eighteenth year, worked with the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and the Villanueva Health Unit. Donors included members of the city and municipal police stations, as well as stakeholders, force multipliers, and other volunteers.
Amidst a critical shortage in blood supply, MOPPO Provincial Director PCol. Cholijun Caduyac said the community faces a pressing need for donors.
He underscored the critical role of the activity in motivating and gathering plasma donors and encouraging people to step forward and contribute.
“Our community is experiencing a shortage in blood supply due to the high demand from those desperately in need, especially the underprivileged. This activity is our way of supporting our fellow citizens,” Caduyac said.
During the bloodletting, which ended at noon, volunteers collected 22,050 cubic centimeters (over 22 liters) of blood. Among 95 potential donors, 49 contributed to this overall amount. (JAKA/PIA10)
