OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA) — The provincial government of Misamis Occidental hosted the Gabi ng Parangal 2024, a special event honoring the exceptional achievements of individuals who have made significant contributions to the province and its community.
This prestigious event, held in celebration of the province’s 95th anniversary, recognized the achievements of individuals who have exemplified excellence, resilience, and service to the people of Misamis Occidental.
The ceremony featured guest speaker PBGen. Jaysen Carpio De Guzman, acting regional director of Police Regional Office-10, who delivered a heartfelt address, as well as a special musical performance by renowned singer Vina Morales.
“We honor a select group of individuals whose remarkable accomplishments embody what it means to be an outstanding Misamisnon and an outstanding friend of the Misamisnons. Each of you has set a standard of excellence that will inspire future generations,” said Gov. Henry Oaminal.
The governor emphasized that the Gabi ng Parangal is not only about celebrating individual success but also about recognizing the broader impact these awardees have had on their communities. Whether excelling in business, public service, or personal achievements, each honoree’s story reflects the boundless potential of the people of Misamis Occidental.
Oaminal also highlighted the diversity of contributions, including entrepreneurs who are driving economic growth, individuals who have brought pride to the province on national and international stages, and those who have shown resilience and perseverance in building successful careers.

“Your achievements are not just your own,” Oaminal shared. “They have left a lasting impact on the communities you’ve uplifted, the lives you’ve inspired, and the province of Misamis Occidental that takes pride in your success.”
The governor also shared his vision for the province, rooted in the 5Ms—Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon, ug Malipayon—which represent the values of peace, progress, and happiness. He urged the audience to continue striving toward these values, emphasizing that a Malinawon Misamisnon values peace, a Malambuon Misamisnon seeks growth for all, and a Malipayon Misamisnon finds joy in living with purpose, integrity, and service to others.
“These values lie at the heart of our provincial government’s efforts,” he said. “We are working tirelessly to create an environment where every Misamisnon has the opportunity to succeed, where peace reigns in our communities, and where progress is within reach for all.”
Oaminal also reflected on the province’s 95-year journey, acknowledging the progress made and the challenges overcome. He encouraged continued unity and collaboration to achieve even greater success in the future. “We will continue to seek out those who make a difference, who uplift others, and who embody greatness. This is not just about rewarding success—it’s about creating a culture of excellence that will inspire future generations to rise to new heights,” he affirmed.
The governor concluded his speech with special recognition for the provincial government employees and retirees, acknowledging their invaluable role in the province’s progress. “You are the unsung heroes who make our success possible,” he said. “I am deeply grateful for your hard work, dedication, and commitment.”

For his part, De Guzman expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all the honorees, recognizing their contributions to the province’s growth and strength. He praised the collective effort of all sectors, including educators, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, and public servants, for their dedication to building a better Misamis Occidental.
“We recognize every profession that serves as a pillar of our province—from the teachers who empower our youth to the doctors and nurses who care for our communities to the entrepreneurs who create jobs and drive innovation,” De Guzman said. “We also pay special tribute to our graduates from the Philippine Military Academy and the Philippine National Police Academy, whose discipline, loyalty, and service to the nation are the embodiment of courage and integrity.”
De Guzman also shared his pride in receiving a special anniversary award for his role in maintaining peace and order in Misamis Occidental, acknowledging that the award represents the collective success of the entire community. “This award is not mine alone,” he said. “It symbolizes the unity and partnership that have been key to achieving peace and order in the province.”
The event culminated with the awarding of plaques and certificates to the distinguished honorees, followed by a reaffirmation of the provincial government’s commitment to fostering excellence, service, and community-building for years to come.
As Misamis Occidental celebrates its rich heritage, Oaminal and the provincial government remain committed to continuing the legacy of peace, progress, and happiness that defines the province and its people. (PGMO/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
