MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA)– Governor Henry S. Oaminal of Misamis Occidental fulfilled his commitment to the armed members of the weakening Guerrilla Front Sendong, who responded to the call to surrender to the 10th Infantry “Steady On” Battalion (10IB) since the start of his administration.
The former rebels, namely Tingan G. Jalalon, Jenela M. Minguay, Reneboy T. Anligue, Arminida O. Nabesis, Edmon Hapay, Roldan Langheras, Nida Dumaog, and Anisito Damason, have each been awarded a financial grant of P300,000. The eight individuals chose to surrender to 10IB at various points throughout the year, with the latest surrender occurring in December.
In his role as the Chairperson of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) in the province, the Governor acknowledges the importance of supporting former rebels in their transition to peaceful lives.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the recipients, Jalalon expressed his gratitude to the governor and emphasized his commitment to becoming a productive member of society. “Kami mapasalamaton kaayo sa kini nga suporta gikan sa gobyerno. Kini nga lihok makatabang kaayo kanamo sa pagtukod pag-usab sa among kinabuhi ug positibo nga kontribusyon sa among mga komunidad [We are immensely grateful for this support from the government. This gesture will greatly assist us in rebuilding our lives and contributing positively to our communities].”
The Governor also commended the 10IB Commanding Officer, LtC Jose Andre Monje INF (GSC) PA, and his troops for their dedication and sacrifices in ensuring peace and security in the province. He emphasized that the objective of dismantling the GF Sendong aligns with the province’s vision of attaining 5Ms (Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon).
The goal is not only to establish an insurgency-free province but also to create an environment where Misamisnons can thrive and contribute positively to society.
BGen Elmer B. Suderio, PA, commander of 102nd Bde, extended his deepest gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support and assistance to 10IB.
