MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) — The provincial government of Misamis Occidental officially inaugurated the Asenso Trade Fair at Capitol Plaza in Oroquieta City on October 25, kicking off the 95th Provincial Anniversary Celebration. The event will run until November 11, daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Gov. Henry S. Oaminal led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, joined by Vice Gov. Rowena Gutierrez, board members, fellow provincial officials, mayors, and exhibitors. This 18-day trade fair showcases the finest talents and local products of the province.
“As governor, one of my key priorities is to achieve economic growth by supporting local businesses, investments, and innovations. This trade fair is an opportunity to showcase the best of Misamis Occidental, aligned with our vision of Asenso Misamis Occidental, where we aim for a prosperous future for all Misamisnons,” Oaminal said.

He also highlighted the fair’s diverse offerings, which include local government exhibits and private enterprises featuring food, handicrafts, woodwork, and more. He also announced an affordable rice program in line with President Bongbong Marcos’ Rice Ratification Law, designed to support local farmers by purchasing rice above market rates.
“This year’s fair is a testament to growth and innovation, spotlighting the craftsmanship and artistry of Misamis Occidental,” Oaminal added.
With backing from the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Agriculture, Department of Tourism, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and Department of Education, the province is fostering an environment where local industries can thrive.

“This trade fair symbolizes our collective determination to rise, thrive, and succeed as one province, moving towards economic prosperity. We are not only promoting the products of our local government units and entrepreneurs but also enhancing the tourism industry, inviting visitors to explore, buy, and support our local offerings,” the governor emphasized.
He further explained the fair’s dual role: stimulating economic growth through product promotion while providing a vibrant space for tourists to discover local treasures.
“Our vision is to establish Misamis Oriental as a premier destination for business and tourism. Through strategic partnerships, infrastructure development, and progressive programs, we are paving the way for sustainable growth and thriving local businesses,” he said.
Oaminal encouraged attendees to seize this opportunity for networking, learning, and growth, underscoring the province’s collective strength in building a brighter future.
“Together, we are shaping Misamis Oriental into a province that thrives on unity, innovation, and the entrepreneurial spirit of our people,” he said.
Sharing his excitement for the fair, Joseph Tac-an, a vendor of kiping from San Vicente Alto, said, “Nalipay ko og dako kay nakapalit ko aning bugas nga tag P43 ang kilo. Sa market, nakapalit ko tag P58-P60. Karon, nalipay ko ug dako kay nakatipid ko ani.”
