MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) — The One Family, One Professional program (OFOP) of the provincial government not only addresses the problem of the youth when it comes to education, it also addresses their problem when it comes to family finances.

Clara Mie V. Villanueva, president of Sangguniang Kabataan, Misamis Occidental, said during the 3rd State of the Province Address of Gov. Henry S. Oaminal at the Bayfront Arena, Misamis Occidental, of all the programs implemented by the province, her favorite is the OFOP program.

Grabe ka dako ang tabang nga gihatag ni gov ana kay wala lang sila nakapaeskwela sa ilang kaugalingon, kun dili paghuman nila og eskwela, mahimo silang professional, and after nila mahimong professional, maka-help pa sila sailang family, sa ilahang igsuon,” she said.

(The governor has provided immense help because not only were they able to send themselves to school, but after finishing their education, they can become professionals. And once they become professionals, they can help their families and their siblings.)

More than 6,000 grantees province-wide received P25,000 per semester to cover their tuition, board and lodging, and other expenses.

“We are glad to report to you that the program has produced its first batch of graduates totaling 343 for this school year 2023-2024,” the governor said during his 3rd SOPA at Bayfront Arena, Oroquieta City.

Currently, 60 OFOP graduates from the previous semester are working in various establishments.

Villanueva, a first-time attendee of the SOPA, shared, “We were all amazed kay dili namo ma-expect, dili nako ma-imagine nga grabe ing-ato ka dako ang nabuhat ni gov, siya ra isa, of course with the support of the two congressmen, makita gyud nato nga mao di visionary ang angga niya. Grabe gyud kadako og kataas ang vision ni gov for the people of Misamis Occidental.”

(We were all amazed because we didn’t expect it; I couldn’t imagine that what the governor did was so big; he was the only one. Of course, with the support of the two congressmen, we can really see why he was nicknamed a visionary. Governor’s vision for the people of Misamis Occidental is really big and sharp.)
