MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA) – The gross domestic product (GDP) of Misamis Oriental grew by 6.3 percent from 2022 to 2023.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), both agriculture and industry grew by 4.6 percent, while services expanded by 8.2 percent.
Agriculture includes farming, forestry, and fishing, while industry covers manufacturing, construction, mining, quarrying, and power generation. The services sector comprises trade, transport, finance, and hospitality.
The PSA presented the report during the recent 4th Quarter Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting.
“Let’s focus on these key sectors to achieve single-digit poverty incidence (SDPI) by 2028,” said Governor Peter M. Unabia.
This progress aligns with the governor’s “PAGLAUM (hope)” development agenda and the province’s commitment to reducing poverty through the SDPI program.
Oro Chamber President Engr. Avalyn Cahulogan emphasized the need to improve transportation to sustain Misamis Oriental’s economic momentum. (Misamis Oriental PIO/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
