MisOr guv urges Capitol employees to renew commitment to public service

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA) — Misamis Oriental (MisOr) Governor Peter M. Unabia urged Provincial Capitol employees to renew their commitment to public service, emphasizing reducing poverty to single digits. He addressed the Capitol community as they began a new year.

“Be a source of hope. As government workers, I urge you to strengthen your dedication and become a beacon of hope for those in poverty. This aligns with our Single-Digit Poverty Incidence (SDPI) program,” he said.

Governor Unabia reaffirmed the 2028 target of 8 percent poverty incidence—no higher.

He announced an upcoming management committee meeting to discuss plans for the year and stressed the importance of networking, inspired by a benchmarking activity in Batangas.

A job fair, in partnership with the Cagayan de Oro City Government, is also set for late January.

Closing his address, Unabia quoted Pope Francis: “You can have flaws, be anxious, and even be angry. But do not forget that your life is the greatest enterprise in the world. Only you can stop it from going fast. Many appreciate you, admire you, and love you. To be happy is not to have a sky without a storm, work without fatigue, and a relationship without disappointments. To be happy is to find strength in forgiveness, hope in battles, security in fear, and love in discord. It is not just to celebrate success but to learn from failures, to enjoy smiles, and to reflect on sadness. Happiness is not a matter of fate, but an achievement for those who seek it within themselves,” he quoted.

Misamis Oriental will celebrate its 94th Founding Anniversary and Kuyamis Festival starting January 13. Highlights include the opening ceremony, Miss Kuyamis 2025 coronation, festival dance competition, The Voice of MisOr, and various exhibits and performances. The celebration will culminate on January 21 with a grand closing ceremony at the Provincial Capitol Grounds. (IJBD/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
