MMDA exchanges recyclable items for grocery

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – Residents of Muntinlupa and Marikina received grocery items in exchange for collected recyclable items.

Through the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) Mobile Materials Recovery Facility, residents of Bagong Silang HOA, Brgy. Sucat in Muntinlupa and Brgy. Parang, Marikina received grocery items from the recyclable items they’ve collected.

According to MDMA, 444 kilos of recyclable materials were collected in exchange of grocery items like noodles and canned goods.

Under the “Recyclables Mo, Palit-Grocery Ko!” project, each kilo of recyclable collected by residents has corresponding points.

The initiative is under the Metro Manila Flood Management Project, which aims to educate the public on proper waste management and reducing solid waste in waterways. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
