BANGUED, Abra (PIA) –More than 42,000 Abreños in the province have received their Philippine Identification Card (PhilID) as of January 31, 2023.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Abra Chief Statistical Specialist Felixberto Perdido reported that a total of 42,209 national IDs were already distributed. He explained that while some physical IDs cards are delayed due to in-depth verification processes, they are currently issuing the printable electronic ID for the meantime.
“We have to bear in mind that the issuance of national ID cards is a nationwide transaction and the delay of some of the physical cards is caused by a thorough verifications before printing,” he explained as he asked for the public’s understanding and patience.
Perdido advised those who do not yet have the physical PhilID to go to the nearest Philsys Registration Centers for the printing of their electronic ID for free.
“Meanwhile, those who did not yet receive their National ID cards, our registration centers are currently printing the electronic IDs at pwede na nilang gamitin ‘yon for transactions already,” added.
There is a fixed registration center lodged at the PSA-Abra office while PhilSys mobile registrations centers located in the municipalities of Bucay, Dolores, San Isidro, Pidigan, San Quintin, Tayum, San Juan and Manabo.
As February 12, 2023, PSA reported that there are 91,008 electronic IDs issued in the province.
Perdido assured that the PhilIDs are well-made with anti-counterfeit features such as the distinct QR codes, Card Number and the Philsys Registration Number (PSN). He demonstrated that the issued ID cards can be authenticated online via verify.philsys.gov.ph through the scanning of the QR code at the back of the card or via offline through physical biometric verification.
