BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA)—Entrepreneurship is being promoted among students of the Mountain State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) with a trade fair among the highlights of its 31st Charter anniversary this month.
The trade fair held at the MPSPC Quadrangle from January 9-20 which was participated by 15 departments and student organizations of the college earned more than P400,00 in sales.
MPSPC Dean for Student Services and Development Jayson Imatong said the trade fair aimed to increase the knowledge of students in marketing strategies and advertising local products while raising funds for their respective organizations. It was also intended to develop teamwork among the students.
The Criminology Department Students Association (CDSA) emerged as the Best Sales Team raising P58,626.00. It was followed by Sadanga Students Association for Peace and Development (SSDA) with P 40,103.00 and the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with P34,855.00.
CDSA also won the Most Visited and Friendly booth. The Upper Bauko Students Association was recognized for Most Innovative Product, Eco-friendly Products and Best Overall Booth.
Liberal Arts Students Organization took home the prize for best use of theme while BSBA garnered first place for Most Creative Use of Products.
Imatong shared that the event was a tremendous success with the participants raising funds higher that what was expected.
“We overshoot our targets. We were expecting that few organizations would join but when we went around to inspect, we were surprised that some were able to have sales of P5,000.00 a day. This means that they are actually gaining,” he said. Gains from this event would help the organizations come up with their projects, he added. (JDP/CVBT-PIA CAR, Mt. Province)
