MPW to build P700M worth of infra projects in Lanao Sur’s 2nd district

MARAWI CITY (PIA) — MARAWI CITY (PIA) – The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Public Works-Lanao del Sur Second District Engineering Office (MPW-LDS 2nd DEO) will build over P700 million worth of infrastructure projects, focusing on road construction and rehabilitation, drainage systems, multipurpose buildings, and streetlight installations.

The MPW-LDS 2nd DEO officially awarded contracts to winning contractors for the said projects on September 13, 2024,

“These projects are funded by the 2023 and 2024 regular infrastructure budgets, as well as the 2021 Special Development Fund, totaling more than 700 million pesos,” said Engineer Abdul Khalic Ondi.

MPW-LDS 2nd DEO expects these projects to address the district’s growing infrastructure needs. The construction of roads and drainage systems will improve access to essential services and help prevent flooding during the rainy season, especially in waterlogged areas. Additionally, installing streetlights aims to enhance safety in communities, particularly in rural areas where lighting has long been inadequate.

These initiatives align with the Bangsamoro Government’s 12-point priority agenda, which focuses on developing reliable and resilient infrastructure for land, sea, air transportation, and communication to improve connectivity and promote economic growth.

Assistant District Engineer Kamar Mauyag, Sr. reaffirmed MPW-LDS 2nd DEO’s commitment to regularly inspect and monitor all projects to ensure they meet quality standards and completion of timelines set.

In response, the contractors assured the Bangsamoro Government of their full cooperation and commitment to completing the projects efficiently with the necessary manpower and resources. (BIO/PIA Lanao del Sur)
