MANILA, (PIA) — Employees of the MRT-3 took part in the Third Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on Thursday, September 26, demonstrating their preparedness for seismic events.
At precisely 9 a.m., the sound of a warning alarm prompted staff to “duck, cover, and hold” before moving to designated evacuation areas in the MRT-3 laydown area.

As part of the drill, designated personnel acted as injured victims and received immediate first aid from the MRT-3 emergency medical team.
MRT-3 General Manager Oscar B. Bongon emphasized the importance of participating in such drills, organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
“I cannot overemphasize the importance of holding these simulation drills in order to prepare us for earthquakes and other unpredictable events,” GM Bongon said.
“These are essential measures to practice how we can protect ourselves during earthquakes and to foster a sense of readiness,” he added. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
