Mt. Province police hosts marksmanship challenge for a cause

BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA) — The Mountain Province Police Provincial Office, in partnership with the Provincial Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (PAGPTD), organized the “Invitational Marksmanship Challenge for a Cause,” to raising funds to purchase and install closed-circuit television (CCTV )cameras for enhanced community safety.

With the  theme “Bang Before the Ban,” the event that took place from January 3-5, 2025 at the  Montanyosa Firing Range in Faniyas, Samoki in  Bontoc, raised approximately Php 500,000.00.

MPPPO Provincial Director PCOL Ferdinand N. Oydoc expressed his appreciation to the sponsors, organizers, and the community for their support, noting that the event’s success would greatly contribute to public safety.

PLtCol. Roy T. Awisan emphasized that the fun shoot was more than a friendly competition, but  highlighted  the shared responsibility of ensuring public safety.

“This event is not just about friendly competition and camaraderie; it serves a noble purpose – to raise funds for the purchase and installation of CCTV cameras within our community,” he said.

“We all recognize the critical role of CCTV surveillance in enhancing public safety. These cameras act as silent witnesses, deterring crime, aiding in investigation, and providing crucial evidence to bring perpetrators to justice,”  he added.

The event was participated  by  law enforcement members, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and gun enthusiasts, all showing their support for this important cause. (JDP/VJLT-PIA CAR, Mountain Province)
