QUEZON CITY, (PIA) –The City Government of Muntinlupa hosted the 8th Sonny Ty International Gymnastic Cup 2023 from October 20 to 22, at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.
“Muntinlupa is honored to once again host the Sonny Ty International Gymnastics Cup,” Mayor Ruffy Biazon said during the opening ceremony.
More than 600 delegates from Asia such as Hong Kong, Japan, India, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines are participating in this year’s competition.
The Gymnastics Cup started in 2016, with the commitment and perseverance of Sonny Ty and with the dedication and passion of his wife, Coach Butch Ty.
“There’s a future ahead of us, to aim for greatness. Dream big, work big, and most of all win big. Always play with honor and passion,” Philippine Sports Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo encouraged the young gymnasts to persevere during the opening ceremony.
Also giving their support on the occasion are the Embassy of India First Secretary Kannan Chokalingam, Embassy of Indonesia First Secretary Mila Tarigan, City Administrator Engr. Allan A. Cachuela, and other guests.
The competition proper commenced on October 21, followed by the awarding and closing ceremony on October 22. (muntinlupa pio/pia-ncr)
