N. Vizcaya vows support to OFWs

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya has pledged its full support to the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the province.

This was elaborated during the 3rd anniversary celebration of the Nueva Vizcaya Overseas Filipino Workers Association (NV-OFWA) at the provincial capitol in this town which was graced by OFW Partylist Representative Marissa Magsino as guest of honor and speaker.

Magsino emphasized the importance of mental health, well-being, and sustainable livelihood assistance for the OFWs and their families.

“This is essential not only for their success but also for the overall prosperity of their families back home,” she said.

Magsino also stated that she is pushing legislative measures in Congress to strengthen OFW rights and welfare.

Board Member Patricio Dumlao, Jr. who represented Governor Jose Gambito pledged P50,000 as initial assistance to the NV OFWA and urged them to practice the core values of governance such as inclusive decision–making and transparency to gain full support from all members and the government.

Messages of unity and solidarity also came from Board Member Elma Pinao-an Lejao, the NV OFWA adviser, and former Governor Ruth Padilla, Regional Tourism Council Chairperson. Last year, the PLGU established an OFW center at the provincial capitol to cater to the various needs, issues, and concerns of OFWs and their families in the province.

This is being done in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and other partner government agencies, among others. (OTB/BME/PIA NV)
