NAIA to tow, impound abandoned vehicles after years of inactivity

MANILA, (PIA) — The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) will tow and impound abandoned vehicles occupying its parking lots, with some cars reportedly left idle since 2014 or about a decade.

The New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) has identified 20 vehicles that are taking up valuable parking space, which is in high demand among current passengers.

In a statement, the NNIC said, “We are offering owners a final chance to reclaim their cars before they are towed and impounded.”

The company pointed out that many of these vehicles are now in “deteriorating states” and are contributing to the ongoing parking shortage at the airport.

To encourage owners to retrieve their cars, NNIC has waived all applicable fees during the grace period.

Vehicle owners are urged to come forward, present proof of ownership, and provide valid identification to reclaim their vehicles.

NNIC is also conducting audits across all four terminals to identify any additional abandoned cars.

As parking space becomes increasingly scarce at NAIA, NNIC is hopeful that owners will take advantage of this final opportunity.

If vehicles are not reclaimed, they will be permanently impounded and designated as government property. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
