National Information Summit 2023

Information Officers from the central and regional offices of the Philippine Information Agency attended the National Information Summit from November 21–22, 2023, in Ortigas, Pasig City.

The Presidential Communications Office convened this summit as a means of updating communicators on the government’s initiatives and programs for the Filipino people.

As the bridge between the government and the people, PIA information officers were equipped to deliver accurate, relevant, and timely information at the grassroots level.

Several officials from national government agencies graced the occasion, including Director Eries Cagatan of the Department of Trade and Industry, Assistant Secretary Rommel Lopez of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Commodore Jay Tarriela of the Philippine Coast Guard, and Director Edgar Posadas of the Office of the Civil Defense.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Emerald Ridao also shared valuable knowledge about media and information literacy; Undersecretary Gerald Baria enjoined everyone to leverage the use of technology to deliver information about the government; and Fr. Ranhilio Aquino explained the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ goal of this administration for the people.

On the second day, Presidential Communications Office Assistant Secretary Dale Rivera shared the importance of implementing unified messaging.

Meanwhile, Philippine Broadcast System Director-General Rizal Giovanni Aportadera and People’s Television Network, Inc. General Manager Analisa Puod welcomed the collaborative efforts between the Radyo Pilipinas and PTV to effectively disseminate information on different platforms.

Senior Undersecretary Honey Rose Mercado expressed the full support of the Presidential Communications Office for PIA in expanding the communication of the government at the grassroots level. In response, the PIA Director-General expressed his gratitude and encouraged everyone to be active listeners and communicators on the ground.
