Naujan LGU distributes dwarf coconut seedlings to farmer cooperators

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – As part of the continued support of the government to farmer cooperators, the local government of Naujan in coordination with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), distributed 2,167 dwarf coconut seedlings to 31 farmer cooperators of said town on January 11.

The coconut seedlings came from Cotabato City and they were grown at the Naujan Agricultural Center for the past three months, thus distribution of seedlings to farmers was made two days ago with the presence of the LGU personnel in partnership with PCA Officer Benigno Magboo.

Mayor Henry Joel C. Teves and Municipal Agriculturist Raquelita M. Umali led said distribution of seedlings.

At least 1,533 catigan varieties and 634 tacunan varieties of dwarf coconut seedlings were distributed.

According to Magboo, they continue to give such seeds in Naujan as part of the implementation and integration of the inclusive coconut industry development program of the government as well as help and provide employment to Naujeños.

Teves sincerely thanked the management of PCA for having such a program that will help a lot in the agricultural initiative which will be the key to a vibrant economy of the local government.  (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
