QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The city government of Navotas and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) jointly inaugurated the Navotas Greenzone Park Phase 3, creating more public open spaces for Navoteño families.

During the inauguration ceremony on Friday, October 6,  Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco underscored the thrust of the local government to provide dedicated public spaces for the outdoor recreation of residents towards shaping the livability of the city.

“Despite the very limited land area in our city, we strive to provide Navoteños with parks and open spaces where they could safely relax and enjoy with their families.  We are fortunate to have partners, like MMDA, in making this possible,” said Mayor Tiangco.

“MMDA has also pledged to develop the adjacent open spaces.  We hope to inaugurate these areas in the near future,” he added.

MMDA Acting Chairperson Don Artes, on the other hand, expressed the commitment of the agency to aid in the efforts of the city government to cater to the needs of its residents.

“Asahan po ninyo katuwang po ninyo ang Metro Manila Development Authority sa pag-aayos po ng Navotas at mapaganda pa po ang serbisyo ng pamahalaan ng Navotas dito sa inyo pong bayan (Rest assured that the Metro Manila Development Authority is one with the goal of improving Navotas and its local government services in the city),” said Artes.

The development of the Navotas Greenzone Park Phase 3 is part of the MMDA’s Adopt-A-Park project, a re-greening initiative aimed at rehabilitating underutilized areas under the local government units in Metro Manila into functional open spaces.

District Representative Toby Tiangco meanwhile urged the residents to keep the park clean to sustain its environmental sustainability.

“We ask the cooperation of everyone in keeping our parks and other public venues clean. Most of the trees here were planted in the year 2000.  It just shows that if we take care of them, they will continue to flourish and even our children’s children will be able to enjoy them,” said Congressman Toby.

The said park is located at R10 in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North (NBBN).

In November 2022, the second phase of the 3,500-square-meter Greenzone Park was completed through the installation of plant boxes, paved pathways, landscaping, bollards, lamp posts, and an area where families can conduct leisure activities.

The first phase of the park was accomplished in 2021. (Navotas PIO/PIA-NCR)
