QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The City Government of Navotas has once again opened its doors to Navoteño youth who wish to earn work experience in government, and former Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are in need of alternative livelihood.

Some 22 beneficiaries of the Navotas Government Apprenticeship Program (NGAP) will serve the city government from July 2 to November 29, 2024. Of these, 20 were college graduates and two finished senior high school.

The program aims to provide job opportunities to Navoteños ages 18-35 who have graduated from a 2- or 4-year tertiary course or completed the K-12 curriculum.

Meanwhile, 24 Navoteños enrolled in the OFW Emergency Employment Program. Eligible applicants were former OFWs ages 20-55 who were repatriated and have not renewed their contract abroad since 2022.

Public service is a noble calling, and I am grateful to all who answer it. Our apprentices and returning OFWs bring fresh perspectives and invaluable experience to our city government. I am glad to see them join our ranks through these programs,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.

In Navotas, we believe in the power of opportunity. By investing in our youth and supporting our returning OFWs, we not only give them the means to earn their livelihood but also to harness their potential to contribute to the growth and stability of our city,” he added.

NGAP and OFW Emergency Employment Program beneficiaries will receive P610 salary per day. Both programs are financed through the Navotas Gender and Development Focal Point System. (JMP/PIA-NCR)
