KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) — The National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) Central Mindanao Regional Office (CMRO) has stepped up its efforts to combat digital criminals in response to the rising threat of cybercrime.
During the 19th episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Koronadal City, NBI CMRO Acting Regional Director Noel Morales disclosed the agency’s plans to enhance its anti-cybercrime initiatives.
According to Morales, the NBI’s cybercrime division currently operates from the central office of the agency.
“Ang NBI po ay meron pong cybercrime division kung saan po, ito po ay pinamumunuan ng mga expert natin sa larangang iyan,” Morales stated, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to staying ahead of digital threats.

Morales reiterated the NBI plans to establish cybercrime divisions across all regions to enhance its regional offices’ capacity to handle cyber-related incidents.
The official also explained that the agency’s vision of building a stronger cybercrime division aims to protect citizens and uphold security in the digital landscape.

Morales pointed out that the NBI is determined to adopt “proactive measures” to address the rise in cybercrime incidents, including hacking and identity theft.
He also cited that another way of resolving “cyber issues” is by strengthening the agency’s manpower to boost their heightened efforts.
The NBI is looking at employing additional personnel with specialized expertise in cybercrime investigations.
“Inaanyayahan po namin ang mga manonood, ‘yung mga experts na gustong makatulong sa ating pamahalaan na madetect o makapagbigay ng solusyon sa lumalaganap na cybercrime ay pwede po kayo dumulog sa NBI at maging bahagi ng NBI force,” he said.
(We invite the viewers, especially the experts who want to help our government detect or provide solutions to the rising cybercrime, to visit the NBI and become part of its workforce.)
The candidate must be between 25 and 35 years old, have good moral character, maintain an 85% weighted average, and not have tattoos or piercings.
Furthermore, Morales advised individuals to learn more about NBI if they are interested in becoming agents to serve and protect the nation.
The new agents, who will qualify and be part of the agency’s workforce, will play a crucial role in NBI’s fight against cybercriminals, the official said. (PIA Region 12)
