BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — First-time job seekers, do are you aware that you can get your National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance for free?
Under Republic Act No. 11261, also known as the First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act, fees and charges for employment requirements for first-time job seekers are waived.
The payment exemption includes NBI clearance, Caesar Valencerina, NBI-Cordillera Clearance Section chief, said during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas here on Tuesday (Oct. 1,2024).
An applicant only needs to bring a barangay certification that he or she has been a resident of the locality for at least six months, and an oath of undertaking. But first, he or she has to register online.
Valencerina reported that processing of NBI clearance is now faster through online applications.
Moreover, applicants are spared from hassle of physically going to the NBI office and waiting in the long queue.
According to Valencerina, the NBI-CAR caters to a minimum of 250 applicants daily, with a 67 percent release of clearances in just two minutes.
For regular new applicants, they have to register online for appointment scheduling and appear at the NBI office on a scheduled date for the recording of the biometrics and for picture-taking.
They can pay the clearance fee online or over the counter. For individuals renewing their NBI clearance, they need not appear in the NBI office. They can apply online, pay online, and have the option to wait for their clearance to be delivered door to door. The corresponding delivery fee depends on the receiver’s location.
NBI-CAR is committed to ensuring that residents can easily process their NBI clearance, Daganzo said.
He explained that since there are places without a stable internet connection in the Cordillera, they offer free NBI clearance online applications in their office.
“Ioopen ulit namin ‘yan para kung galing ka sa probinsya o sa ibang town, dumating ka dito at hindi ka nakapag-apply ng online, dumiretso lang kayo sa NBI-CAR at doon na kayo mag-apply online,” he said.
NBI-CAR also offers mobile clearance services throughout the region upon request by the local government units. For more information, you may visit their website: https://nbicar.com/e-report. (JDP/DEG/Ydelvess Morales & Nicole Pauline Panis, PIA CAR-SLU Interns)
