SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) — A satellite office of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) MIMAROPA is expected to open in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro to make their services accessible to more people in the province.
On the latest Philippine Information Agency’s Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas episode, NBI MIMAROPA Regional Director Gelacio D. Bongngat said that the satellite office will be operational in the coming days “to bring nearer the services of the NBI to the people.”
Bongngat explained that this initiative aims to lessen the travel time of clients from San Jose and other neighboring towns, as the nearest NBI office is located in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
“Kasi ang hirap po…sa Occidental Mindoro, ang layo din ng time difference niyan, at least 6 hours yan yung [travel] time. So ‘yong mga ganitong kahit basic services lang ay naibibigay natin sa taong bayan,” he said.
In addition to Occidental Mindoro, satellite offices will soon be opened in the provinces of Romblon and Marinduque.
The services provided by the NBI are forensic and crime prevention, and the issuance of NBI clearance required for job seekers, passports, and visa applications, Bongngat said. (DSG/PIA MIMAROPA – Occidental Mindoro)
