PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) –The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) MIMAROPA plans to open another office in Brooke’s Point town to serve locals residing up to the southernmost part of Palawan.
Lawyer Gelacio Bongngat, the Regional Director of NBI MIMAROPA, stated in a Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas that it will serve as an addition to the current district office of the bureau, which is situated in the city of Puerto Princesa, adding that the plan is also in collaboration with the local government unit.
“Sa southern part ng Palawan ay magkakaroon din tayo ng opisina doon, sa Brooke’s Point dahil ang opisina natin ngayon ay nasa Puerto Princesa. It’s a three-hour ride, it will serve the southernmost part of Palawenos,” he said.
Aside from Brooke’s Point, NBI MIMAROPA is now in talks with Marinduque’s provincial government about a satellite office. The bureau expects the satellite office in Romblon to open within this year.
The establishment of satellite offices will help to bring the bureau’s services to the people, particularly the basic services such as issuance of NBI clearance, he added.
“Hopefully to cater or to bring nearer the services of NBI to the people, kasi ang hirap. Katulad sa Romblon, tatawid pa sila ng Lucena para kumuha ng NBI clearance gayon din ang Marinduque. Ganitong kahit basic services lang ay maibigay natin sa ating mga kababayan,” Bongngat said. (RG/PIA MIMAROPA-Palawan)
