NCCA, CCP schedule memorial service for National Artist Nora Aunor

MANILA, (PIA) — Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, the beloved National Artist known as Nora Aunor, passed away on April 17, 2025. She was celebrated for her significant contributions to Philippine arts and culture.

In honor of her legacy, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will hold a necrological service on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila.

The arrival honors will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a tribute program at 9 a.m, according to Florence A. Atabay, Junior Public Relations Officer of the Corporate Communications Division of CCP.

The event aims to bring together friends, family, and admirers to celebrate Aunor’s remarkable impact on the Philippine artistic landscape.

Aunor, the National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, celebrated for her illustrious career spanning over 50 years, was a consummate actress, singer, and film producer.

Aunor’s significant contributions to Philippine cinema include producing films that are now part of the national heritage, including “Banaue,” “Bona,” and “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos.”

She also delivered stellar performances in acclaimed films such as “Himala,” “Thy Womb,” and “The Flor Contemplacion Story,” for which she received numerous national and international awards. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
