QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — Metro Manila experienced a significant improvement in public safety this Holy Week, as the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recorded a 60.18% reduction in crimes from April 14-20, 2025.
“NCRPO is just fulfilling our mandate of peace and security. We owe this to the public and we are duty-bound to serve and protect, with competence and integrity,” said NCRPO chief PMGen Anthony A. Aberin.
Based on NCRPO’s data, crimes cases dropped dramatically from 113 in 2024 to 45 this year. The most substantial declines were observed in murder, rape, theft, and physical injuries.
Highlights of crime reduction: murder, 87.5% decrease (8 cases down to 1); rape, with a 77.78% drop (18 cases down to 4); physical Injuries, 66.67% reduction (12 cases down to 4); theft, a 56.36% plunge (55 cases down to 24); and carnapping (MV and MC), both categories saw an impressive 75% decline (from 4 to 1).
Moreover, NCRPO’s operational performance improved significantly. The case solution efficiency (CSE) surged to 88.89% from last year’s 73.45%, reflecting enhanced investigative capabilities. While the case clearance efficiency (CCE) saw a minor dip of 10.23%.
Aberin credited the success to intelligence-driven operations, robust police presence across the region, and strengthened alliance with the community. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
